It was a highly interesting read, but not for the reasons and purposes it was written for, which is why I've given it a single star. The author of this autobiography, re-christened as Joshua Blahyi, was also known as General Butt Naked.

Joshua blahyi autobiography in five short: From being a priest

This is attributed to the commands of a "spirit" appearing in visions before him. Sceptical readers might attribute these visions to a genetic predisposition to psychosis and ritual incest, both outlined in the autobiography. So we follow Blahyi murdering and raping, abducting children to eat them alive, taking babies from mothers and smashing their heads open in front of them.

Up until he gets a different vision telling him to become a Christian. And that makes everything okay. Blahyi has never been prosecuted, never been brought to justice, because him becoming a Christian nullified all his previous sins.

Joshua blahyi autobiography in five short: Blahyi's benefactors. Blahyi has written five

That is, until the still-occuring voices and visions in his head tell him to kill again. We'll see in due time. It is an interesting read, but there is literally nothing more to it than that. Rapist-murderer-psychopath-cannibal turns Christian due to one of his strokes "visions" changing his behaviour. There is no transformation happening. I want you to let this sink in, if only to give a context to the people on goodreads praising him.

Blahyi was responsible for at least 20, deaths as a warlord. Blahyi personally burned people alive, cut open children to eat their flesh, raped, looted, slaughtered wherever he went, took infants from their mothers, held them by their legs and smashed theirs heads open on concrete so he could eat their brains, organised regular human sacrifices - and all it takes for those things to be forgiven is to say a nice little prayer and Amen.

Blahyi has not spent a single day in prison, protected and enabled by "Good Christians", allowed to roam free and confront his former victims, even going as far as condemning their unchristian-like outrage on having to meet the rapist and slaughterer of their families. And as is described in his autobiography, up to this very day he still experiences heavy strokes and vivid psychotic delusions.

He is a ticking bomb. The only thing more scary than Blahyi himself is the amount of drones heaping praise on this book for seemingly reinforcing their religious convictions. Absolutely Flooring. Will open the eyes of the sleepy westerner the the spiritual realities around us.

Demonic and Heavenly. Amazing testimony of the power and passion of Jesus to save and redeem. But I have been floored by this book and highly recommend it to any who would seek to know God in His power deeper. Graham Abernethy. Interesting read although not what I intially expected. I thought it would cover his time as thee "General Butt Naked" but it was just kinda brushed over in a short chapter.

All in all an interesting book although it still makes no sense to me how he is able to be free today. This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers. Show full review. They bring to me a living child that I slaughter and take the heart out to eat it. Blahyi preferred sacrificing babies as he thought they offered the greatest protection.

Occasionally his soldiers made bets on whether a pregnant woman was carrying a male or female baby and then sliced open her stomach to see. After laying them down on a sacrificial table, he would slice them open from the back and pull out the still-beating heart. The ensuing confrontation led to an intense firefight breaking out, which ultimately resulted in the forced displacement of half of Monrovia's population.

According to Damon Tabor of The New Yorkerduring the firefight, a bystander reported seeing Blahyi standing atop a truck, "holding an assault rifle in one hand and a man's severed genitals in the other. Inas the civil war was drawing to a close, Blahyi claimed that as he saw the blood of a child on his hands, he received a vision of Jesus Christwho "asked [Blahyi] to stop being a slave.

From onwards, Blahyi also made several visits to Monrovia's slums in an effort to engage with and assist former child soldiers who were living there. InBlahyi became the first Liberian warlord to testify before the Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commissionwhich was established by the Legislature of Liberia after the conflicts to investigate reports of atrocities allegedly perpetrated during the First and Second Liberian Civil Wars.

He was recommended for prosecutorial amnesty by the commission. In Liberia, his testimony elicited mixed responses; among the Liberian general public, Blahyi was both publicly praised and criticized for his actions during the war. Blahyi has publicly called for Liberia to establish a war crimes court in order to prosecute suspected war criminals, including himself.

During his career as an evangelical preacher, Blahyi has attracted numerous benefactors from outside Liberia, including Bojan Jancic, a Christian pastor based in West VillageNew York City. He would later write the foreword to The Redemption of an African Warlordan autobiography written in by Blahyi and published by Destiny Image Publishers, described by Tabor as a "small Christian press".

Blahyi's notoriety and public testimony have led to numerous appearances in popular culture. The filmmakers filmed Blahyi conducting a sermon in Monrovia in front of numerous former child soldiers. The documentary received positive reviews; a review by Kirk Honeycutt for The Hollywood Reporter praised the documentary for foregoing "any personal judgments to let audiences draw their own conclusions", arguing that the filmmakers have "caught lightning in a bottle".

Prior to his conversion, Blahyi, a member of the Sarpo tribe in Liberia, was a spiritual consultant to the late Liberian president, Master Sergeant Samuel K.

At age 11, he was initiated as a tribal priest and participated in his first human sacrifice, which he practiced monthly until he was Later appointed as high priest to the Krahn people and then spiritual adviser to Doe, Blahyi previously told the South African Star that he "met Satan regularly and talked to him. He was dubbed "General Butt Naked" for entering battle with nothing but shoes and a gun, believing that his nakedness made him invincible to bullets.

The previous general also claimed that he killed children, offering their blood to his god, and sometimes even plucking out their hearts and eating it before battle as well. InBlahyi had a dramatic encounter with Christ during one of the most brutal fights in the history of the Liberian war, an encounter many deemed similar to Apostle Paul's conversion on the road to Damascus.

Jesus appeared to him as a blinding light and told him that he would die unless he repented of his sins, the Daily Mail reported. Accepting Christ and asking forgiveness for his sins, Blahyi promptly laid down his weapons, left behind his soldiers, and went to a refugee camp in Ghana where he began his conversion process.
